Morley Update 2913 #1

Everyone,

Happy 2013. We rang in the new year at our friends, the Cami's home with a game night. After toasting the new year we watched the fireworks in the distance from the balcony. It was a nice evening. On New Years day we joined the McCrackens for a game marathon. We started at 1pm and played until 10pm with a break for dinner. It was a fun day full of laughter - we are especially cherishing these times because as most of you know the McCrackens will be leaving Athens to move back to the states this summer so we will say goodbye to them in April when we leave for the states and they will be gone when we return in October. Fortunately for us they are moving to the Portland Oregon area which is only a couple hours from our home base.

We have enjoyed our time off alternating days of getting together with friends or other activities with days of just staying at home doing crossword puzzles, playing games on the balcony or watching movies. It has been a rather lazy but much needed time of rest.

Last Sunday Kent (along with a woman in our church who has a beautiful voice) sang a special. It is the first time he has been able to do this since we have been here. They sang Silent Night in English and Greek. Afterwards Kent shared for the communion thought using the idea that Jesus was born in a stable - a dirty, dark, cold and altogether unworthy place. He compared this to the fact the Jesus is born in our hearts which are also dirty, dark, cold and unworthy places. As is often the case God used the physical to give us a picture of what happens spiritually. I pray that Jesus was born anew in your hearts this season and that you are looking forward to what God has in store for 2013.

We love you all.
